Genealogy Research Services
Connect the Dots Genealogy LLC charges $30 per hour for research services. This hourly rate covers the genealogist’s time in research, analysis, document preparation, and report writing. This rate does not cover the cost of DNA testing, document retrieval fees, nor travel costs. Such costs would be charged to the client in addition to the $30/hour rate. The client’s written approval will be required before costs of this nature are incurred.
A $100 deposit is required before research begins. When a project concludes, an invoice will be sent and the remainder of payment will be required before the project files will be shared with the client.
Important: It should be clearly understood by the client that genealogical research, by its very nature, does not always result in positive information to the benefit of the client. Although the researcher will diligently strive to carry out the research to the best of her ability in the time allotted by the client, the information obtained may not be conclusive or solve the genealogical problem at hand. The client understands that the fees charged are remunerative for the researcher’s time and efforts, but not for a guaranteed body of information.
Genealogy Research Coaching
After an initial FREE consultation, genealogy research coaching sessions will be charged at a rate of $45 per hour. This rate reflects compensation for the genealogist’s time with the client, and the genealogist’s “behind the scenes” time i.e. time spent preparing for and wrapping up from a coaching session.
Record Look-up
Project price will be negotiated on a per-project basis.
Pro-Bono Research
A percentage of Connect the Dots Genealogy LLC’s time will be devoted to pro bono work. If you are searching for an unknown parent(s)/grandparent(s) but cannot afford the hourly rate detailed above, you may schedule a consultation and join a waitlist. Please understand that the cost of DNA testing and possible document retrieval fees will still be your responsibility.
